Welcome to the Rotary Club of Madison, Connecticut
This year’s International theme is “Building Communities - Bridging Continents”. Our President, Ray Klinginsmith, chose a theme that would aptly describe Rotary to an outsider and make existing Rotarians proud of their membership. In my opinion, he hit the mark!
Rotary distinguishes itself through The Rotary Foundation (TRF), which provides funding and grants for humanitarian, vocational and scholarship purposes. If you are interested in learning more about opportunities to serve the community, the world or want to pursue funding for your self or organization, please contact us. Our club is currently working on a number of projects, as we do every year. Some highlights include a grant for the Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) program here in Madison. We are also partnering with other clubs within our Rotary District 7980, to fund a matching grant from TRF that will provide fresh, potable water to six villages and schools in Uganda. The Madison Rotary Club also supports Polio Plus which is the final push to eradicate that horrible disease. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation proposed a Challenge Grant to Rotary International of $355 million which, when matched by Rotary, will provide $555 million to “end polio now”. Our challenge locally is to raise $2,000 from the community to aid that effort. Feel free to give generously to this cause. Rotary has changed the world through our message of peace and by sharing our values of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity and leadership. Please join us at a weekly luncheon meeting at Friends & Co. each Thursday @12:15pm. Yours in Rotary Service, Brian A. Bishop
