Announcements:

  • BEN HAAG ANNOUNCED THAT PATTI FINISHED HER FIRST HALF MARATHON IN 1 HOUR 42
MINUTES, FINISHING IN THE TOP 7% FOR HER AGE GROUP AND RAISING $2000 FOR THE HAITAIN HEALTH
    FOUNDATION.
  • We have just received an “Emergency Email” from Marilyn Lowney talking about the dire situation in Haiti that has been caused by the unrest in the country – the cost of food has increased almost 100% since March 2008 and people are starving and eating mud cookies to stave off the pangs of hunger.  For more info go to www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22902512/  and to contribute directly go to www.haitianhealthfoundation.org or send a check to HHF Emergency Food Fund  97 Sherman St.  Norwich, CT 06340.  Thanks for caring!
  • The GSE Welcome/Farewell Brunch will be at Racebrook Country Club on Sunday, April 20 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  See Pres. Jim to sign up.

  • Madison Rotary will co-host Business With a Twist on Wednesday, April 23, 5:30 to 7:30 at Act II Thrift Shop.  This is an ideal opportunity to further publicize the Capitol Steps event and to sell some additional tickets!  In return for co-hosting we get five free admissions to the event.  Robert Friend will be there and if you can join him please contact him via email or a phone message.
  • JA in a Day at Island Avenue School on April 25 (9:00 am to 1:00 pm) is still in need of two volunteers for the first or second grade students.  If you can volunteer, please contact Pres. Jim or Pam Kezar at pkezer@jaconn.org
  • The District Conference Committee is offering a "One Day Only - No Room" option for the Conference at West Point.  It is available only to those who have not registered for the entire
conference.  It is for Saturday, May 17th ONLY.  Fee is $150 per person, and the deadline for registration is April 30th.  Check your email from Eileen on 4/9 for registration details.
  • Capitol Steps -
    • Is coming very soon! And we still have much to do. Get those additional $100 sponsorships in and sell tickets!
    • Robert has sent out an email on 3/23 that is easily adapted for your personal use to forward the ticket Order Form to your email lists.  If you can’t find it in your inbox, let Eileen or Jim know.
    • We plan a distribution of flyers via the “backpack express” just after the school vacation.  The flyers are being printed and will be delivered.
    • Tickets for the event will be mailed during the week of April 21 to those who requested mail service.  Tickets can also be picked up at our regular meetings on April 24 and May 1.  After that tickets will be available at a “will call” table at the event.
    • Pres. Jim has a limited number of tickets available for members on consignment.  If you would like some to sell, please let Jim know.  One caveat – we need for all of the consignment tickets to be sold, so no “turn backs” please.
